Work Based Learning Task

Within the WBL sessions we have identified lots of job roles within 'Illustration' and this has been very useful to me. It has opened my eyes as to all the options I will have when I finish my degree, and all the different paths this course could lead me to.

I have chosen 3 of these to identify pros and cons:

Teacher

Pros:
1) Reliable wage
2) Weekend and holidays suit a family life?
3) Rewarding outcomes

Cons:
1) Less time to work on personal illustration work
2) Demanding, and can be stressful
3) Competition for job placements



Gift Card Illustrator

Pros:
1) Large market for gift cards
2) Own work is being viewed and appreciated
3) Could be self-run or work for a company

Cons:
1) Competition for sales
2) Repetitive briefs
3) Not going to make you very rich very easily!



Fashion Illustrator

Pros:
1) Opportunity for travel
2) Possibilities of being widely published
3) Many clients

Cons:
1) Competitive Industry
2) Select market
3) Unreliable income
